Feral Hog Information
Posted on Oct 20th, 2020
The Feral Hogs come and go in Live Oak Bend, often leaving our yards destroyed.
Discouraging Digging - If wild pigs come calling and find grubs or insects in your lawn, they'll continue digging and will probably return. You may discourage this by spraying soapy water during the hottest part of the day, when beneficial worms and grubs are deep. The soap will keep them away from the surface and may prevent the pigs from finding them. If your yard is being destroyed by grubs, treat to kill the grubs. This will help deter the hogs.
Wild Pig Food - Wild pigs are opportunistic omnivores, which means they'll eat almost anything, including grain, acorns, insects, reptiles, and small birds, but their main diet is vegetarian. They are fond of grass, and they also love what lives underneath it, including grubs, subterranean insects and their larvae, as well as succulent roots.
